"I'm worried because I have no clue what's going on," Martinez said. "Nobody has come around" to tell the family to evacuate.

On a nearby street, an officer was knocking on doors and telling residents to leave.

One South Salt Lake Police officer said people he notified were "a little surprised about what's going on."

Mike and Brett Baley and nephews were about to leave a home in the area, evacuating to the house of a sister who lives a couple of miles away. Their nephews were already in the car.

"I was just watching TV and the cops came, told us we have to leave," Mike Baley said. His brother, Brett Baley, said he knew what was going on because he had heard a radio report about the leaking rail car.
