Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is going to miss even more of the final days of the legislative session, thanks to the bad weather in Washington, D.C.

Huntsman, in the nation's capital for a weekend gathering of the National Governors Association, had been scheduled to return to Utah on Monday.

Now he's not going to be able to get a flight home until this morning at the earliest, according to his chief of staff, Jason Chaffetz. The session ends Wednesday at midnight.

Chaffetz said the governor stayed busy in Washington, meeting with President Bush as well as the secretaries of education, energy, interior and, of course, health and human services — a position held by former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt.

Further meetings between the governor and Bush's Cabinet are set for March 14-15, Chaffetz said. Topics on the table include the president's No Child Left Behind initiative and the effort by the Goshute tribe to store spent nuclear fuel rods on their reservation.
