Jazz fans sound off on team's woes

I think a lot of people get hung up on the Jazz's point guard situation, but I don't think that is the problem. The problem is that the Jazz are a team of roll players. At any given moment the Jazz will have five role players on the court. Although Kirilenko is an all-star and possibly the best energy player in Jazz history (no offense to the Golden Griff), he does not have skills to take over the game on the offensive side of the ball down the stretch. Boozer, Okur, Harpring, Giricek, Bell are solid players, but not No. 1 options. The offense cannot be run through Boozer like it was Malone because Boozer is undersized and struggles with the double team, especially down the stretch. The same thing can be said about any of the Jazz players, they are all great, but none of them are dominant. Domination would come if the Jazz had one go-to offensive player, and the rest could be roll player (it is possible the go-to offensive player would not even be the leading scorer on team, but would demand the respect of the opposing team).

My suggestion would be for the Jazz to make a trade. Right now the Jazz's rotation is too big and does not let players get into any consistent rhythms. Combining some of our players in a trade would make it possible to bring a strong go-to-guy, but that would require the Jazz to be willing to lose (probably more than one) players like Harpring, Bell, Giricek, and Collins. (It would also have been nice to get something for Arroyo by adding another Jazz member to the trade but that is in the past.)

Just waiting for the draft would be a mistake. Finding the go-to guy in the draft is like getting a camel to go through the eye of a needle. I guess you never know, the next Walter Palmer, Eric Leckner or Jose Ortiz could waiting to put on a Jazz uniform.

Too much me-first on team

Many years ago the Jazz played Denver in the 1st round of the playoffs. In Denver, their fans had lots of posters displayed saying the Jazz "Had No Heart". I don't think you can say that about any Jazz team since they came to SLC. That is, until this year. One gets the impression all they want is "Show Me The Money", so they can "feed their families".

It was dumb letting Mo go.

When will we hear the truth about the Carlos Aaroyo mess. He was and may never have become a "Stockton," but I can't see the others on the Jazz roster 5 years from now.

If the Jazz want to salvage this year, they better start wheeling and dealing soon. And Andrei and Raja are the only ones worth keeping.

Last year's group was fun to watch because the effort was there every game, all game long. This year they don't want to be there. So why should the fans?
