The Jazz are half a team right now. Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur are great pickups. They have a team to compete with anyone at least at the shooting guard, small forward and power forward positions, but that isn't what's needed in this league to win. For one, you need a point guard who can be a floor general. Look at the impact Steve Nash has had on a mediocre Phoenix team. Being one of the youngest teams in the league I would think that it would help the Jazz to push the ball up the floor more, and I think getting the right point guard here would make a huge difference.

Team will fight to the end

Story continues below
I am a devoted Jazz fan and have been for many years. This is the hardest year yet for the team, for many reasons. I think that it cannot be pressed upon one factor. In reality, it was a total psychological meltdown. I think possibly their age experience plays a large part. They are a very new, young team with many different pieces, including two huge pieces to the puzzle new this year in Mehmet Okur and Carlos Boozer. As far as those guys go, I think they are worth every penny. While they are overpaid, as all athletes are, for the market, they are worth it. The two of them have been the only constants in a year of fluctuations and change. Had Larry not signed them this year would have been lost. Naw, as far as the season goes, the Jazz have never been a team to give up on anything, especially an entire season. They should be no different this year. As long as Jerry Sloan is at the helm, this team should fight until the end. If they don't do that they aren't the Jazz team I know.

Keep losing and get good pick

I think the Jazz should continue on their current course and keep losing This can only help the Jazz out with a higher lottery pick this summer. Jerry Sloan would never purposely try and tank the rest of the season, but the Jazz still find ways to lose close games after leading for three quarters. For the most part the effort is there, they just can't finish games.

Chalk this year up for allowing the new players to get to know the team playing styles and to learn from their mistakes. Then get a high pick and select a point guard who can be a strong floor leader. Look what Dwyane Wade has done for Miami or Steve Nash for the Suns. With the right point guard the Jazz offense would thrive. Paying the price to get Mehmet Okur and Carolos Boozer was worth it. Now we need a floor general like John Stockton to lead them back to the Finals. Go Jazz!
