Legends in their own minds
The three members of Everclean talk about (what else?) themselves
"For example, we look good in Spandex. We can make it shimmer. Not everyone knows how to work the Spandex, but we do."
And while some may say the band's rise to fame is meteoric, he doesn't agree. "I mean, we always expected we'd be this big, but we've played our share of malls and radios."
Still, it's not every boy band that gets a documentary film this early in its career, but that's exactly what has happened to the Everclean trio. Their purpose, their hopes and joys, and yes, even their minor struggles, all come to the silver screen in "Sons of Provo," which comes to local theaters today. "It was a thrill to have the documentary crew follow us and document our story and our glory and our oh, whatever else rhymes with that."
"We'd like to cross state lines, do Idaho and Arizona," said Will. "Kirby has a cousin who lives in Toledo, Ohio, and we're even thinking of that. I just bet we could get bus tickets to Toledo!"
For now, however, they're just feeling the love. "Being in a boy band is every boy's dream," said Laybourne. "To be able to sing songs with harmony, to go onstage and wear cool clothes. It doesn't get much better than that.
"Well, it has cut into my scrapbook time. But I've been lucky enough to hook up with a woman who developed a wireless system that lets you scrapbook anywhere in the world. I can be sitting in an airport and just use a little pixel stick to move my pictures anywhere on the page I want. It's amazing."
