As commissioners debated whether to sign a contract to bring a circus to the county fairpark, Commissioner Dannie McConkie said, "The circus is in Salt Lake City, isn't it?"

Hansen has demanded an apology from Anderson but has not heard from the mayor.

The Salt Lake City Council attempted to mend the broken relationship last week and passed a resolution that welcomed and praised the contributions of people living in the communities bordering Utah's capital.

Hansen said he was interested in a Deseret Morning News report Monday that showed the large majority of Salt Lake City's own employees drive cars to work.

"What I think is funny is, the mayor can't even sweep his own front porch, and then he is pointing his finger at us saying we need to sweep ours," Hansen said. "He can't even get his own employees to take mass transit."
