Rocky is not the mayor of Utah. However, he is the mayor of our capital city. As such, he should appropriately support an improvement which is almost universally seen as critical to ensuring our state's long-term economic viability.

While it's true that Salt Lake County places twice as many cars on our roadways than do we in Davis and Weber counties, the valley also enjoys a vastly more developed roadway system which includes the likes of not only I-15, but also I-215, I-80, Foothill Boulevard, Wasatch Boulevard, Highland Drive, Bangerter Highway, Redwood Road, State Street — the list goes on. One wonders how the mayor's constituency would respond if all but I-15 and maybe Highland Drive were closed.

In summary, we hope Mayor Anderson can help us less sophisticated types out here in Davis County with these logical stumbling blocks. Nevertheless, my expectation is that he can't. Elitists like Rocky don't understand why you and I are hung up on such things. And lest you think this is a Davis County issue alone, allow me to share a word of warning to Rocky's neighbors to the south. Rocky Logic is coming to a town near you. If he is willing to oppose Legacy here, he will surely do whatever it takes to make certain no additional north/south and east/west routes are built in Utah County.

Residents of Salt Lake County, this column is not meant to offend you. It's meant to help you understand our position here in Davis County and illustrate how our destinies are tied. Many of us work in Salt Lake County, our extended families may live in Salt Lake County and we recreate in Salt Lake County. The head should not say, however, that it has no need of the foot; nor the foot say it has no need of the head. We're one citizenry here in the greatest state in the country. My invitation to Anderson is to join me and more than 260,000 Davis County residents in making this pretty, great state an even greater place to live.
