Rosenberg said both pairs of concerts are musical tributes to his late mother, Gladys Gladstone Rosenberg, who passed away in February 2002. "This isn't a memorial to her, but a tribute, since she was a big influence on the three of us."
His mother took an active interest in the Paradigm Trio from its inception. "She came to all of the dress rehearsals and to all of the concerts." He said that several of the works that the Paradigm has in its repertoire were dear to her heart. "She played the Schubert and the Mendelssohn all her life."
Rosenberg recalled an evening many years ago when he was in high school and the renowned violinist Henryk Szeryng was in Salt Lake City. "He came to our house. He and my mother and one of our friends from the Utah Symphony played trios by Mendelssohn and Brahms well into the night."
Since 1999, Paradigm concerts have supported local charitable organizations. Next weekend's concerts support a small charity, the Wheelchair Sports Foundation, that has most of its members in Utah County. It buys wheelchairs for the disabled and organizes soccer matches for them.
