PROVO — The Utah County commissioners Tuesday voted 2-1 to approve spending $52,000 toward a $104,000 feasibility study on a convention center in the county seat.

The Provo City Council, acting as the Provo Redevelopment Agency, is considering building a convention center. They'll pay half of the study cost.

The joint study would determine what could be built, where it might be built and what kind of venue it would be. It will also look at whether having an adjacent hotel is a critical component.

Commissioners Steve White and Gary Herbert voted to support the study. Commissioner Jerry Grover voted against the plan.
