Who should defend Utah ban on gay marriage?

Stewart said there are already calls from those defending marriage measures in other states, though he said it's premature to pinpoint any specifics.

While neither Stewart nor Duncan would say how much money they've raised to date, they said they do have enough to start up, but are looking for donations. They said they'll meet all financial disclosure requirements.

Duncan, foundation director, is an attorney for the conservative issues group Sutherland Institute and formerly served as acting director of the Marriage Law Project at the Catholic University of America. Stewart, foundation president, formerly served as a law clerk to the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and as U.S. Attorney in Nebraska. Stewart also co-chaired the Utahns for a Better Tomorrow campaign in support of Amendment 3.

McCoy said amendment opponents are waiting for the right case and time before they challenge Amendment 3.
