PRELUDE TO GLORY, VOLUME 8: A MORE PERFECT UNION, by Ron Carter, Bookcraft, 533 pages, $26.95. This is another in a series of books using the history of the United States to tell the fictional story of the Dunson and Weems families, who live during the time of the United States Constitutional Convention in 1787 Philadelphia.

LETTERS, by Marjorie Pay Hinckley, Deseret Book, 264 pages, $14.95. The popular wife of LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley, Marjorie Pay Hinckley passed away in April 2004. This book is a collection of her letters, representing a variety of her thoughts and experiences on everyday life as a wife and mother and selected to show "the delightfully real woman," including her rich sense of humor.

SIX EVENTS: THE RESTORATION MODEL FOR SOLVING LIFE'S PROBLEMS, by Stephen R. Covey, Deseret Book, 284 pages, $21.95. Best known for his best-selling book, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," Covey, an organizational consultant, has written about six "transcendent events" that occurred between 1820 and 1844 , which he believes represent the ultimate foundation of the LDS Church.

NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE, by Sheri Dew, Deseret Book, 220 pages, $18.95. Sheri Dew, the president of Deseret Book, is a popular author and speaker on the LDS circuit. In this book she writes to inspire LDS readers to recognize their unique contributions: "True happiness comes from doing what we were meant to do."

FOLKLORE IN UTAH: A HISTORY AND GUIDE TO RESOURCES, edited by David Stanley, University of Utah Press, 352 pages, $24.95, softcover. This is a useful collection of the many articles that have written about Utah folklore by such experts as Hector Lee, Barre Toelken, William Wilson, Hal Cannon and many others.

EXCAVATING THE MORMON PASTS: THE NEW HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE LAST HALF CENTURY, edited by Newell Bringhurst and Lavina Fielding Anderson, Kofford Books, 394 pages, $39.95. This represents a collection of articles written about the past 50 years of LDS history and includes such prominent authors as Davis Bitton, Klaus Hansen, Glen M. Leonard, Todd Compton and Martha Sonntag Bradley.

OUT OF JERUSALEM: OF GOODLY PARENTS, by H. B. Moore, Covenant, 293 pages, $19.95. In this work of LDS historical fiction, Heather Moore tries to flesh out the experiences and personalities of Lehi's family as they struggled with their journey in the wilderness.
