Republican Attorney Gen. Mark Shurtleff on Wednesday unveiled a Spanish-language television ad as part of his efforts to reach out to the Hispanic community.

"I find that their values are in harmony with my own values, with Utah's values and with the Republican Party's values," Shurtleff said.

Shurtleff is the only attorney general candidate running Spanish-language ads, a move he said shows his investment in the community.

Shurtleff's Democratic challenger, Greg Skordas, is also reaching out to Hispanic voters. Both candidates addressed voters in Spanish at a candidates forum last Saturday.

Skordas said he has represented Hispanics in court and has worked with Hispanics to get into law enforcement.

"I encourage diversity in all aspects of law enforcement," Skordas said.
