Nielson and UCAS principal Clark Baron call UVSC "an outstanding partner."

"They're excited about it — President (William) Sederberg has been personally involved; he's excited about this," Baron said. "They've been unbelievably supportive of us. Without them, we couldn't exist, and without the support of the three districts, we could not be successful."

Nielson said the school has already had 80 students request more information about UCAS and expects the number of applicants to exceed the 100-student-per-grade cap. If that is the case, a lottery system will determine who is admitted.

The school does not have specific entrance require- ments.

"State law prohibits (having entrance requirements) because we're a public school," Baron said. "If they're within the county, they have a right to attend here if they choose to, as long as we have space."

Applications for admission to UCAS will be accepted during January and February 2005 for incoming sophomores and juniors. Interested students can be placed on the mailing list by sending an e-mail to ucas@comcast.net, or calling 225-2214. An open house for school counselors and administrators will be held on Nov. 4 at the school, 940 W. 800 South, Orem.
