Stingers start fast, then rout Trappers
Salt Lake led 4-2 when they broke the game open in the sixth inning. Brian Gordon opened with a single off Edmonton starter Wilton Chavez (5-12) and Gary Johnson followed with a mammoth two run homer to right center field that hit a road sign approximately fifty feet beyond the fence.
Adam Riggs followed one out later with a solo homer to left center that extended his hitting streak to twenty games, the third longest in the PCL this season. It was the fourth straight game that he extended the streak with a round tripper and his fifth straight game with a home run, which ties a franchise record set by Chad Rupp in 1997.
The Stingers would add one more in the sixth on a run scoring single by Dallas McPherson. Scott Dunn (9-4) picked up his second win in six days against the Trappers by allowing just two runs on four hits in five innings of work.
Edmonton helped the Stingers by committing a season high equalling five errors, which led to four unearned runs.
