Iraq in upset win vs. Portugal
Iraq went ahead 2-1 in the 28th minute when Mohammed Hawar scored on a soft shot after dribbling past the goalkeeper, but Portugal tied it with a minute to go in the first half on a goal by Bosingwa.
With the game tied at 2-2, Mahmoud Younis put Iraq ahead 3-2 in the 50th minute, and Sadit Salih scored during injury time to seal the victory.
Iraq leads Group D with three points, while Costa Rica and Morocco have one after playing to a scoreless tie.
In other men's soccer games Thursday:
GHANA 2, ITALY 2: At Volos, Greece, Alberto Gilardino scored with six minutes remaining to help heavily favored Italy salvage a tie with Ghana.
The Italians trailed 2-0 after first-half goals by Emmanuel Pappoe and Stephen Appiah, but Giampiero Pinzi scored three minutes into the second half and Gilardino equalized.
PARAGUAY 4, JAPAN 3: At Thessaloniki, Greece, Jose Cardozo scored two first-half goals, and Pablo Gimenez had a goal and an assist to lead Paraguay to a victory over Japan.
Gimenez opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Shinji Ono scored twice for Japan on penalty kicks in the 22nd and 53rd minutes.
Ono's second goal cut Paraguay's 3-1 halftime lead to 3-2, but Aureliano Torres restored the two-goal advantage in the 62nd minute.
Japan moved within one goal again in the 81st minute when Yoshito Okubo scored off an assist from substitute Tatsuya Tanaka.
COSTA RICA 0, MOROCCO 0: At Heraklio, Greece, Costa Rica and Morocco played to a scoreless tie.
Morocco was forced to play a man short after Jamal Alioui received a red card in the 59th minute.
ARCHERY South Korean archers broke three world records Thursday in men's and women's events in the ranking rounds of the Olympic competition.
Park Sung-hyun set a record of 682 points in the 72-arrow women's competition, breaking the mark of 679 set in May by Italian Natalia Valeeva.
The team of Park, Lee Sung-jin and Yun Mi-jin also set a record of 2,030 for the 216-arrow event. Yun also was a member of the team that set the previous mark of 1,994 at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Lee was second in the 72-arrow competition with 675, and Yun was third with 673.
In the men's competition, Im Dong-hyun set a 72-arrow record with a score of 687, breaking the mark of 685 set by countryman Shim Young-sung in 1995.
Jennifer Nichols of Cheyenne, Wyo., was the top American woman, finishing 19th with 638. Stephanie White-Arnold of Portland, Ind., was 36th with 623. Janet Dykman of El Monte, Calif., was 44th.
For the U.S. men, Butch Johnson of Woodstock, Conn., who won a bronze medal in the team competition in Sydney, placed 16th. Vic Wunderle of Mason City, Ill., was 43rd and John Magera of Carterville, Ill., was 47th with 637.
