Two new charter schools were given the green light by the State Board of Education Friday.

East Hollywood High, which will be in Granite School District, and Moab Community School in Moab will open in September.

Both schools target at-risk students and are now open for enrollment. Moab Community School is an arts community-based school and Hollywood High will have an emphasis on filmmaking.

Charter schools are public schools that offer parents a choice in public education and provide some flexibility in teaching but still follow the state core curriculum and testing laws.
