Booth, 50, ran for the Salt Lake School Board in 1972 as an 18-year-old, and the next year ran for Salt Lake City commissioner. He was unsuccessful in those efforts but served as chairman of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council under former Salt Lake City Mayor Jake Garn.
"I'm concerned that we make sure that we think appropriately small for this size city and don't get grandiose ideas, and focus on preserving the quality of the neighborhoods," he said.
"There are going to be issues we all agree on, and billboards is obviously one of them. My biggest concern is that we throttle this unbridled development of high-density commercial and residential real estate to make sure we don't have any more Pinnacle Apartments-type developments occur without having the infrastructure in place first."
Kelvyn Cullimore Jr. was a participant in the incorporation committee for two years and is a 24-year resident of Cottonwood Heights. He is the CEO of Dynatronics Corp., a medical device manufacturer headquartered in Cottonwood Heights.
Cullimore is on the national board of directors of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association. He also serves on the board of an entertainment company based in Branson, Mo.
He is the former chairman of the Bella Vista Elementary School Community Group and for the last two years has been a member of the board of the Jordan Education Foundation.
"As president and CEO of a public company, I understand the responsibility of answering to constituents and the importance of prudent financial management," he said. "I believe my business experience, my role on the incorporation committee over the past two years and my community service will help me be an effective mayor of this new city."
Jerri A. Harwell has served on the Cottonwood Heights Community Council for the past five years, the longest-serving member "elected three times by the citizens of Cottonwood Heights," she noted.
She is an adjunct professor at Salt Lake Community College, teaching developmental writing. She also portrays Jane Manning James, an early black Mormon pioneer, at This Is The Place Heritage Park.
"I have a combined total of 50-plus years of community service. Of that, 30-plus years has been in leadership positions," she said. "I am well prepared to serve as mayor of Cottonwood Heights. I bring a wealth of knowledge, intelligence, experience, wisdom and integrity."
