One school of thought even suggests Boozer's camp knew he had a plan.

"What Rob Pelinka did," Goodwin told SI, "was he figured out a way to get his guy out of his contract. And he lied to do it."

The Cavs did release another statement, issued jointly by Gund and Paxson. This one, however, did not seem to be worded nearly as carefully as the first.

It read: "Our actions have been based upon what Carlos told us he wanted. This was also entirely consistent with his public statements in the media July 1. We are both very surprised and very disappointed by what is now being reported."

The fact the Cavs admitted their "actions" were "based upon what (Boozer) told us he wanted" is something an arbitrator might closely consider. If that happens, though, it probably will not be until sometime after the Jazz learn for sure where Boozer will play next season.
