Revue tickets on sale, but prices increased
Tickets for the 2004 version of the NBA summer league are priced at $8 per person, quite a jump from $5 in recent Revues past, or $36 for a family of six.
For the first time in Revue history, the Jazz announced Thursday, advance tickets are being sold at the Delta Center box office, online at ticketmaster.com, by phone at (801) 325-7328 and at participating TicketMaster outlets.
Another first: In addition to NBA TV coverage, a number of games will be televised locally on KJZZ.
The 35-game Revue, scheduled July 16-24 at Salt Lake Community College, will feature 11 teams made up of NBA rookies, youngsters and free agents.
The Jazz will play seven games over nine days, beginning vs. Portland at 8 p.m. on July 16. Other Jazz games: 6 p.m. July 17 vs. Indiana, 6 p.m. July 19 vs. Denver, 8 p.m. July 20 vs. Chicago, 6 p.m. July 22 vs. Atlanta, 6 p.m. July 23 vs. expansion Charlotte and 4 p.m. July 24 vs. Phoenix.
TRADE TALK: Speculation continues to the swirl that the Jazz, who have exposed swingman Sasha Pavlovic to Charlotte for Tuesday's NBA Expansion draft, are trying to work a deal of sort some perhaps one that would persuade the Bobcats not to select Utah's 2003 first-round draft choice.
"The Jazz has multiple first-round picks in the 2004 NBA draft," the Charlotte Observer reported, "so it has the resources to send some compensation Charlotte's way."
Pavlovic was left unprotected in part, it is believed, so the Jazz could instead protect restricted free agent guard Mo Williams.
Utah apparently feared Charlotte would take Williams, and the Jazz evidenced by the fact the team says he is expected to play in the Revue apparently are intent on re-signing their 2003 second-round selection.
Jazz boss Kevin O'Connor was said to be feverishly working the phones Thursday, evidently talking trade with multiple teams.
NEW UNIFORMS: More details are emerging regarding the Jazz's new uniforms.
Besides a color change in which copper is out and blue in, they supposedly will feature block letters saying either "JAZZ" or "UTAH," depending whether it's the home or away jersey. The Jazz's mountain-peak logo will remain, but apparently only on the buckle-belt area of the shorts.
The new look will be unveiled Thursday, when the Jazz host a draft party at the Delta Center.
MISC.: The Detroit News reported the NBA-champion Pistons are offering Charlotte $3 million and a future pick to take veteran big man Elden Campbell, which would free $4.4 million to help Detroit match an offer to restricted free agent Mehmet Okur. The Jazz are thought to be one of several teams interested in Okur . . . Milwaukee big man Brian Skinner reportedly will opt out of his contract with the Bucks prior to the expansion draft, making him unavailable to Charlotte. If he does become unrestricted, Utah could show interest this summer in Skinner . . . Memphis is rumored to have interest in ex-Jazz guard Troy Hudson, who reportedly will opt out of his deal with Minnesota.
