Junior golf tour making stop in Utah

SENIOR OPEN ENTRIES: Local Entries for the United States Senior Open must arrive at the USGA offices no later than Wednesday. The tournament is open to all seniors over 50 with a handicap of 3.4 or lower.

The qualifying in Utah will be held July 2 at The Country Club with one qualifier advancing to the U.S. Senior Open at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. The tournament is open to professionals and amateurs and the entry fee is $125.

Entries can be obtained by clicking the "golf links" button at the top of the page and then clicking on the USGA logo or by going directly to the USGA home page at usga.org.

WOMEN'S NEWS: One of the top local women's tournaments of the summer will be played this week when the USWGA Four-Ball is played at Mountain Dell on Wednesday and Thursday. Kerry Sundahl and Jennifer Peirce won last year with Sue Nyhus and Joyce Billings finishing second . . . The third event in the Crystal Inn Series will be held Saturday at Sun Hills Golf Course in Layton. The entry fee is $30 and includes green fees. It does not include cart fees. The tournament is divided into two segments, one for women with single-digit handicaps, and the other for seniors 50 and over.

There will be gross and net competition in each division. The seniors will have age divisions of 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over . . . Lyndsey Myers and Heidi Kim won the two qualifying spots for the USGA Women's Public Links at Bountiful Golf Course. Myers shot a 77 and Kim shot 79 and now they both advance to the finals at The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va., on June 22-27.
