The Wasatch County Coordinated Weed Management Area Committee needs volunteers to help with a project to combat leafy spurge, a noxious weed, on Saturday, June 5, from 7 a.m. until noon at the Wasatch Mountain State Park.

Wasatch County has more than 500 acres of leafy spurge, which is difficult to control and eradicate. Leafy spurge is an aggressive, persistent, deep-root perennial, growing to a height of three feet or taller with roots up to 15 feet.

Meet at the Dutch Canyon trail head in the park at 7 a.m. Hands tools and herbicides will be used during the cleanup. AVolunteers should bring work gloves and drinking water and dress appropriately as the project will continue if there is inclement weather.

Call Drew Patterson, 435-654-1791, or Steve Smith, 435-654-2741, for more information.
