• Best quote on the Iraq war: At a fund-raising event, Sen. Bob Bennett quoted Secretary of State Colin Powell, who replied as follows when a journalist scolded him about "American imperialism": "America has been sending its sons and daughters to foreign lands to fight for freedom for a hundred years. The only land we've ever asked for in return is enough to bury those who don't return home."

• Bennett also tossed off a good line from former U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan that would be good for candidates to remember in upcoming debates: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."

• And former gubernatorial candidate Richard Eyre has used a terrific quote attributed to former first lady Barbara Bush while speaking to the parents and families of a graduating class at Wellesley College. During this intense and highly charged political season, it's a good one to remember: "It is not what happens in the White House that will save this country; it is what happens in your house."
