Nielsen's goal lifts Lions over Devils

Each team had a few opportunities to take the lead in the second half but Cropper and Peck came up with several nice saves to send the game into overtime.

"These are two well-matched teams," Gillie said. "There were moments each team had the momentum."

Luckily, for Gillie and the Lions, they were the ones that ended with the momentum when Nielson connected on his 60-yard free kick.

"I don't know what you can say," Gillie said. "He's known for that. He's got a leg."

WOODS CROSS 4, WEST 0: Eric Callejas scored twice as Woods Cross defeated West. B.J. Thomas and Trevor Eschler combined at keeper for the shutout.

REGION 6

SPANISH FORK 7, AMERICAN FORK 0: Six different Dons scored, led by two goals from Kaleb Clare, as Spanish Fork cruised past the Cavemen.

TIMPVIEW 2, PROVO 0: David Lewis scored two goals to lead the T-Birds past rival Provo. Tyler Cloward earned the shutout.

PLEASANT GROVE 3, OREM 1: Jay Helquist tallied twice for the Vikings in their Region 7 win over Orem.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 3, TIMPANOGOS 2: Tyson Firmage broke a 2-2 tie with less than a minute to play as Mountain View beat Timpanogos. Firmage also scored a goal earlier in the second half.

SNOW CANYON 4, HURRICANE 3: Luis Alegria scored twice for Snow Canyon in its victory against the Tigers.
