Abuser wasn't a bishop, LDS say
A probable cause statement by police had earlier described Lynn Hill, 51, as a former Mormon bishop.
"The church has no record of Mr. Hill ever serving in that capacity," the church said in a release faxed to media outlets.
Hill was sentenced Monday to up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser third-degree felony count of attempted forcible sexual abuse. He had been originally charged with second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.
Prosecutors said Hill molested the 17-year-old girl while driving her to a church function for disabled children and at the girl's home.
