Elder de Jager, who joined the church in 1960, served in the First Quorum of the Seventy for more than 17 years and was granted emeritus status on Oct. 2, 1993.
A month later, he was called as bishop of the Canyon Road Ward in the Salt Lake Eagle Gate Stake.

Elder de Jager worked for 26 years with Philips International Electronics Industries. He served on the National Advisory Council of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.
Elder de Jager married Bea Lim on May 20, 1954, in Jakarta, Indonesia. They were sealed in the Swiss Temple on June 20, 1966. He is survived by two children, Dr. Michael de Jager and Audrey Inez de Jager Poulson.
