DRAPER — A new charter school will be sprouting up in the Draper area and has announced operations are under way to find a facility and set up shop for next fall.

Summit Academy was chartered in August by Jordan School District with unanimous approval and is for students from kindergarten through sixth grade.

The school promotes academic fundamentals as well as discovery of students' more specialized talents and interests. School leaders have developed an instructional framework that integrates the Multiple Intelligence Theory, which is the idea supporting and acknowledging different intelligences and learning styles to account for a broader range of potential, and Summit's own learning matrix to ensure that students of varying learning styles receive the attention they need.

The school has a maximum operating size of 525 students, with the average class size at 25 students.

Enrollment and recruitment for students and faculty began Jan. 1. For more information, visit www.summitacademyutah.org.
