THE COOLER — William H. Macy stars as the title character of this comedy-drama about an unlucky gambler employed by a casino to rub his "bad luck" off on other gamblers. Maria Bello and Alec Baldwin co-star.

MONA LISA SMILE — Mike Newell's comedy-drama stars Julia Roberts as a free-spirited professor who tries to open the minds of her students at conservative Wellesley College. Julia Stiles, Kirsten Dunst and Maggie Gyllenhaal co-star.

21 GRAMS — Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's follow-up to "Amores Perros" is an ensemble drama about three people whose lives are affected by a fatal car wreck. Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro star.

CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN — This remake of the 1950 comedy classic stars Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt as the parents of 12 kids, including Tom Welling, Piper Perabo and Hilary Duff.

COLD MOUNTAIN — Director Anthony Minghella's adaptation of the best-selling novel stars Jude Law as a Civil War soldier who heads back to North Carolina to find his former sweetheart (Nicole Kidman).

Ben Affleck stars in this science-fiction thriller from director John Woo, based on a short story by Philip K. Dick ("Minority Report"), about an electrician trying to piece together his memory — which may have been erased by his employer.

PETER PAN — This live-action fantasy/adventure, based on J.M. Barrie's much-filmed classic, stars up-and-coming actor Jeremy Sumpter as the title character and Jason Isaacs as the villainous Captain Hook.

DEC. 26

HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG — This drama, based on the novel by Andre Dubus III, stars Ben Kingsley as the patriarch of an Iranian family involved in a bitter battle with the former owner (Jennifer Connelly) of the home they've purchased.
