"Our sole intention is to get a piece of the BCS pie and TCU could help us in that area," Thompson said.

"I'd love to see TCU in (the MWC)," said New Mexico's Rocky Long.

Presidents representing the six BCS leagues and the five non-BCS leagues will meet to discuss the future of the BCS on Sunday. While these are just preliminary talks, there is little doubt that the BCS will undergo changes when the contract runs out in 2006.

"I'm optimistic that there will be change," Thompson said. "More people have been speaking out about it in the past six months than they have in the previous six years."

Thompson said the MWC's expansion decision is still likely to come sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
