After scoring those early baskets, Lyles came out briefly and headed to the locker room where he promptly vomited. He soon returned to the bench and picked up right where he left off on the court.
"He was cramping up. He was sick. But, gosh, he stays after it," said Bruin coach Norm Parrish, who described Lyles as the "quarterback" of his team.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: The Dixie State women's basketball team has taken the notion of offensive balance to a whole new level this season.
Five DSC players average between 10.0 and 11.0 points per game led by Jessie Ingraham with 10.9 points. In addition, there are three other players who average between 8.0 and 10.0 points per game.
All of it has helped Dixie State (7-5) lead the Pacific West Conference in scoring offense. Through twelve games, DSC is averaging 76.1 points per game.
