Gibbs, Goodson dropped from U.S. soccer roster

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Defenders Cory Gibbs and Clarence Goodson were dropped from the U.S. roster for a Jan. 24 exhibition game against Sweden.

The pair were replaced by Jason Hernandez of the San Jose Earthquakes and Ugo Ihemelu of the Colorado Rapids, the U.S. Soccer Federation said Thursday.

Gibbs, who is with the Rapids, withdrew from the national team training camp. Goodson, who plays for Norway's IK Start, has not recovered from ankle surgery.

Also, Dynamo midfielder Geoff Cameron strained a hamstring and returned to Houston for rehabilitation. He will miss the match.
