"In a perfect world, as far as I'm concerned, there would be no polygamy," she said Thursday. "But the biggest trauma and abuses that we have suffered in Mormon fundamentalist polygamy has come from the entitlement the male leaders have that they can do anything they want with the female children. That is definitely not going to be addressed here."
Dozens of people from Utah, Arizona and Canada were questioned in the investigation, but RCMP Sgt. Tim Shields declined to say Thursday who would be a witness in the pending criminal case.
"We now have a criminal trial ahead of us," he said.
Blackmore was the bishop of the FLDS enclave of Bountiful until he was ousted in 2002. The community split, with some following Blackmore and others remaining loyal to FLDS leader Warren Jeffs. Oler is the current bishop of the FLDS there.
"I am what I am, we are what we are," Blackmore wrote, saying he will remain faithful. "Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. He has taught us, and I have taught my children that they should pray for their enemies as well as their friends. That is what we will continue to do."
