And it's great to see John Garfield mugging, Humphrey Bogart being intimidated by S.Z. "Cuddles" Sakall, Bette Davis warbling a tune and myriad production numbers featuring the Andrews Sisters, Ida Lupino, Errol Flynn, Eddie Cantor, Joan Crawford, Dinah Shore, Roy Rogers and Trigger, Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Benny, Irving Berlin, Ronald Reagan and many more.

Extras: full frame, "Warner at War" documentary, outtake music and audio commentary on "This Is the Army," short films, newsreels, cartoons, trailers

"The Little Rascals: The Complete Collection" (RHI/Genius, eight discs, b/w, $89.95). This set includes all of the 1930s sound films in the "Our Gang" series produced by Hal Roach, with Spanky, Alfalfa, Darla and Buckwheat, along with others who came and went, such as Chubby, Stymie, Dorothy, Butch, etc. Roach's shorts were about kids being kids and when he sold them to TV in the 1950s, retitled "The Little Rascals," they became a staple of daytime television, captivating baby boomers. These are restored and remastered, and they look better than they ever did on '50s and '60s TV. They're also still entertaining and deal with themes that remain universal. I'm looking at them through the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia but perhaps the set's suggestion that they are —must-have entertainment for a new generation to discover — will prove to be true.

Extras: full frame, 80 shorts, introductions/audio commentaries, three silent shorts (1927-28), featurettes; 12-page booklet

"Mr. Bean: The Ultimate Collection" (A&E, 1989-2007, seven discs, $69.95). Rowan Atkinson's various performances as Mr. Bean are collected here, showing off his uncanny knack for physical comedy and his ability to twist his body like a pretzel.

Though conniving and sneaky, Bean is also hysterically funny, whether trying to be first in line at a bus stop or stifling a sneeze in church or playing with a creche at Harrods. Included are all the TV episodes, the theatrical films "Bean: The Movie" and "Mr. Bean's Holiday," the animated series and loads of bonus features.

Extras: full frame/widescreen, deleted scenes, featurettes, new skits, "Comic Relief" skits, music video, photo gallery, trailers
