DRAPER — The City Council here plans to take action during its 7 p.m. meeting at City Hall tonight on a development agreement concerning a possible commuter rail station in the city.

The planned action follows several weeks of discussions among the city, the Utah Transit Authority and the Whitewater VII Holdings Corp.

The agreement will focus on financial responsibilities among the parties, said Draper Councilman Jeff Stenquist. The city has discussed creating a redevelopment zone that would allow Whitewater to defer property taxes back into its project.

"Personally, I'm excited about the opportunities we have in this part of the valley," Stenquist said. "This could be an epicenter of economic development for the Wasatch Front."
