Ex-IRS worker gets fine, probation for tax return
The U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah said Thursday that Susan M. Fisher was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty in July to a misdemeanor charge of filing a false tax return.
Federal prosecutors said Fisher, who worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 17 years, admitted to filing a 2004 tax return that omitted more than $6,000 in alimony she received. Alimony is required to be reported on 1040 returns, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah said.
Fisher is no longer employed by the IRS.
