Credibility gap

New York tabloids hit the mother lode last week when police investigated an incident at the home of former Knicks coach Isiah Thomas.

Reports say a 47-year-old male was found unconscious on the kitchen floor, the victim of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Police hinted strongly it was Thomas, but he told the New York Post it was his 17-year-old daughter.

Rock On sources say Thomas also claimed it was actually Rudy Giuliani who ran the CBA into the ground and Al Sharpton who sexually harassed Anucha Brown Sanders in the Knicks offices.

Oh, and that Karl Malone really could have blinded him with that elbow in 1991.

Campaign killer

For those Utahns who think the state gets no respect, just be glad you're not in Alabama.

Charles Barkley was on CNN last week with interviewer Campbell Brown, who asked him about his plan to run for governor of Alabama in 2014. He said he will.

"You are serious," said Brown.

"I am," replied Barkley, "I can't screw up Alabama."

He continued, "We are number 48 in everything, and Arkansas and Mississippi aren't going anywhere."

Neither is his campaign, if he keeps that up.

On the lookout

Comedian Amy Borkowski, who says she is constantly nagged by her mother to get married, has decided to advertise herself in a Super Bowl commercial.

All it will take is $3 million.

So she has created a Web site (superbowlsinglegirl.com) to receive donations.

As of Monday afternoon, she had collected $2,905. (If she doesn't reach her goal, she plans to donate proceeds to United Way.)

"My ideal man would have a big brain, a good heart and a really annoying mother," she says on her Web site. "I wouldn't rule out a creative accountant, unless his creativity resulted in federal charges."

Game on

The inaugural Sex Olympia games are scheduled to be held in Queensland, Australia, Aug. 18-19.

Medals will be awarded in various events.

Already these games have a couple of advantages over the regular Olympics.

First, people will be interested more than once every four years.

Second, you won't hear medal winners talking about the hours they had to train to get there.
