High school football playoff updates all evening long

PLEASANT GROVE 37, BRIGHTON 10: The Vikings played well on both sides of the ball to beat Brighton and advance to the quarterfinals. Dallas Lloyd steadied Pleasant Grove with 111 yards rushing and a touchdown.

ALTA 55, VIEWMONT 14: Ammon Olsen went 17-for-23 for 296 yards and had four touchdowns for Alta. Wide receiver Parker Webster had 140 yards and three touchdowns, while Alex Rivas ran for 66 yards and a TD.

DAVIS 28, RIVERTON 14: Quarterback Gavin Fowler led the Darts with two passing and one rushing touchdown. Tanner Hinds added two rushing touchdowns to help Davis past the Silverwolves and advance to the quarter finals.

4A PLAYOFFS

BONNEVILLE 28, MOUNTAIN VIEW 21: The Lakers squeaked past the Bruins with a 58-yard bomb from quarterback Todd Aubrey to Devin Nichols. Aubrey was 17-for-35 for 239 yards in the game, and running back Tyson Jenkins had 68 yards on 12 carries.

COTTONWOOD 31, OREM 24: Isi Sofele carried the ball 28 times for 124 yards and three scores while Steve Romero went 18-for-27 for 250 yards and a touchdown as the Colts held on after giving up 24 points in the final quarter. Josh Hamblin threw 24-for-38 for 310 yards and three scores to help the Tigers' rally.

PINE VIEW 48, PROVO 14: Quarterback Justin Ence fueled Pine View's offense with 245 passing yards, 104 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

HIGHLAND 12, BOUNTIFUL 10: In a tough fight to advance in the playoffs, Highland got a little help from freshman Hayes Hicken, who kicked what ended up becoming the game-winning field goal for the Rams. The Highland defense was able to hold Bountiful to only 100 yards of total offense on the night.

DIXIE 40, SPRINGVILLE 36: The Flyers withheld a 22-point Red Devil third quarter and escaped the first round of the 4A state tournament with a four-point advantage.

MOUNTAIN CREST 49, CYPRUS 7: The Mustangs jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead to dominate Cyprus and advance to the quarterfinals. Alex Kuresa jump-started the offense with a 51-yard touchdown pass to Alex Knowles.
