PROVO — The Mountainland Aging and Family Services Department is sponsoring its 24th annual Health and Wellness Extravaganza on Thursday.

The event will be held at the Provo Eldred Senior Center, 270 W. 500 North, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults will be able to receive free health screenings, educational information and resources regarding their health and wellness.

Individuals on Medicare or Medicaid can obtain flu and pneumonia shots at no cost, but they must bring their Medicare or Medicaid card and prescription-drug card. Without insurance, the flu shot is $23, and the pneumonia shot is $40.

Free screenings and consultations will be offered for hearing loss, balance and dizziness, speech or swallowing problems due to strokes, skin care, bone density, vision, glucose and cholesterol testing, breast-cancer awareness and chiropractic issues.

Educational booths will provide volunteer opportunities, community resources, caregiver resources, Medicare and prescription-drug assistance, weight-loss information for seniors, substance-abuse information and long-term health planning.
