OREM —The SCERA Art Studios will open its next art exhibition on Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the SCERA Center.

After the opening, the exhibit will continue to be free to public and may be viewed weekdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Oct 31. The exhibit is titled "The BIG Exhibit" because every piece on display has been painted on a large 4-by-8-foot canvas.

The exhibit features works by Envision, a group made up of elite high school art students throughout the valley. To be in the group, students were required to submit portfolios, sign up for interviews and complete two essay questions. Those admitted meet two hours every Saturday and are dedicated to the study and practice of visual arts. The group helps develop students' art portfolio and resume, discuss art history, explore visual arts careers, learn proper artist practices, and participate in outreach programs.

This is the first of several exhibitions by Envision. Others will include variety displays and four-man shows. The SCERA Art Studios also offers beginning and intermediate classes in pottery, painting, drawing/illustration, figure drawing, watercolor and cartooning.

For more information, call SCERA at 801-225-ARTS or online at www.scera.org.
