MLS roundup: Beckham and Galaxy lose again

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Alejandro Moreno scored his career-best ninth goal of the season and the Columbus Crew beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 in David Beckham's Crew Stadium debut Saturday night.

Columbus (16-6-5) solidified its hold on first place in the Eastern Conference. It has an MLS-best 53 points.

Los Angeles (7-12-8) has the fewest points in MLS.

CHIVAS 3, D.C. UNITED 0: At Washington, Alecko Eskandarian had a goal and an assist to help Chivas beat D.C. United.

TORONTO FC 3, RED BULLS 1: At East Rutherford, N.J., Chad Barrett scored two goals to lift Toronto FC over the Red Bulls, which lost its third straight game.

HOUSTON 3, COLORADO 1 : At Commerce City, Colo., Brian Ching scored twice in the first nine minutes to help the Dynamo (11-5-10) beat the Rapids and clinch a playoff spot.

Houston leads the Western Conference with 43 points, four better than second place Chivas USA.
