Utah Utes football: BCS official gets in-person look at late heroics

In Friday night network games, the Utes are 3-0. All-time, the Utes are 55-31-2 on Network TV. Utah is 5-2 all-time in games televised on Versus, which televised Thursday's game.
FIRST TIME: Oregon State's Jacquizz Rodgers became the first opposing rusher to top 100 yards against the Utes. The freshman finished with 101 yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown. UNLV's Frank Sommers had the previous best with 87.
Middle linebacker Mike Wright led Utah's defense with a career-high 15 tackles (five solo, 10 assisted). He has topped the team (or tied for the lead) in tackles for three straight games.
The Utes held the Beavers to eight yards rushing in the first quarter and 18 in the third. They've held opponents to under 20 yards on the ground in 15 quarters this season.
Sakoda is also closing in on a couple of other Utah records career field-goal attempts and career punts.
EXTRA POINTS: Rice-Eccles Stadium was filled to capacity for the third time this season. The crowd of 45,599 was the third best all-time at the stadium. ... The stadium press box was filled to capacity for the first time all season. Besides the media, seven NFL scouts representing the Chargers, Panthers, Texans, Patriots, Lions, Browns and Eagles attended the game. ... Al Afalava's interception for a touchdown in the second quarter marked the sixth time in six games this season that Brian Johnson has had a pass intercepted. ... Running back Eddie Wide got his first start of the season as the Utes opened the game with a no-back set. ... Terrell Cole got the start at free safety ahead of Robert Johnson, although both players saw significant action in the game.
