LEHI — A man who allegedly stole his neighbor's truck was arrested after his neighbor's daughter recognized the truck, but not the driver.

Police say the Lehi man, 25, had stolen the Ford Ranger from his neighbor and was spotted by the neighbor's daughter just before 4 p.m. Thursday, said Lehi Police Sgt. Jeff Swenson.

She called her dad to ask, "Who's driving your car?" Her father replied that nobody should be driving it, Swenson said.

The woman then happened to pull up behind a Lehi police officer at the stop light at 850 E. Main and got his attention by yelling that the vehicle behind her was stolen, Swenson said. The officer flipped a U-turn and as he did so, the driver of the stolen truck bailed out, leaving the truck in the middle of the road.

The man then began running toward a nearby Best Western hotel, Swenson said. The officer radioed for back-up units and followed the man to the hotel, where numerous officers found him hiding in some bushes.

The man was taken to the police station for questioning and was expected to be booked into the Utah County Jail.
